RACHEL FREDERICK
Group Creative Director at Ogilvy NYC
Born and raised in the Midwest, but a longtime resident of New York, Rachel still has a healthy dose of “Midwest nice” in her—so much so that she’s known to apologize profusely as she shoves her way onto the subway. She has an eye for detail, obsessive work ethic and a laugh so loud you can hear it five miles away if the wind is just right.
For almost 20 years, she has worked at agencies both small and large—including BBDO NY, Droga5, Johannes Leonardo, Adam&eveNYC and presently Ogilvy—and has made work for a wide range of clients including Volkswagen, Ad Council, Oscar Mayer, JetBlue, Virgin Mobile, Starbucks, Pepsi, Microsoft, and Dubai Tourism, among others.
Last year, in addition to her day job, she judged on the Print and OOH jury for the One Show, was a One Club portfolio reviewer, and judged for the SVA BFA Design and Advertising Portfolio Review. The year before that she taught at the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in NYC, judged on the 2019 Grand Jury for the New York Festival, and was named an Adweek & Adcolor Champion for her work with D5in10 Academy—a free, educational course she co-created at Droga5 to invest in the future of diversity within the ad industry. Next year she might finally learn how to ride a horse. Or maybe not.
*A rising star, Rachel made her first commercial at the age of 9. Naturally, she also had the leading role. (The brief, black screen at the intro. is intentional for dramatic pause).
